Registration is Open to ALL Competitors
Anyone can register for SO Worlds, just like they would any other tournament.
However, qualified competitors compete free of charge.

How to Qualify for Sub-Only Worlds:
All competitors have the opportunity to qualify to compete for free at Sub-Only Worlds by winning 1st in your respective age category, belt level & weight-class.

Please note: Kids NOVICE division does NOT qualify for SO Worlds. It's a non-competitive division, where they receive participation medals, not place winning medals.

Winning by Default
No competitor can qualify for worlds by default.

For example: You sign up for a Good Fight tournament. No-one else in your age category, belt level or weight class registers. This DOES not put you on the podium for Gold and qualify you for Sub-Only Worlds by default. You didn't win anything. In order to qualify, you MUST win something.

In the above example: this competitor would be combined into a younger age category or the next heaviest weight class. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis based upon the  specific situation of the tournament.

Resolution: If a 36 yr old blue belt is combined into an adult (16-29 yr) age category and wins 1st place. The 36 yr. old would qualify for Sub-Only Worlds and be able to compete in the executive (30-39 yr) age category.

Reason being: he bet the odds and qualified in a younger age bracket. But because Sub-Only Worlds will bring much more competitors it makes sense to put him in his proper age category because there will be a bracket for him.

For Women: this section will become necessary for you to understand, as it's customary to have to combine, weight-classes. Again, we'll determine this on a tournament-to-tournament basis.

Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Kids/Teens Divisions Available
All kids/teens competitors who have placed 1st in a Good Fight tournament have earned a spot to compete free of charge at Sub-Only Worlds.

Weight classes will be done the same way they are done at regular Good Fight tournaments. All the kids will be placed into a bracket with other kids closest to their age and weight.

We will use a 2 yr. maximum different in age and a 10 lb maximum weight difference.

Age Change
Whatever age category you qualify in, is the age category you will compete in.
For example: if a 15 yr old qualifies for Worlds in the teens division and then turns 16 yrs. old afterward, he is still eligible to compete at Sub-Only Worlds in the teen's division.

Weigh-Ins:
There are NO night-before weigh-ins. All competitors must weigh-in Saturday. Weigh-in times are posted on the Sub-Only World weblink.
